Nairobi has plenty to do, if you want to spend a few days in the area here are some suggested activities.
A game drive in Nairobi National Park, Visit the Sheldrick Elephant orphanage, feed the giraffes at The Rothschild Giraffe Centre, and take a tour of Kazuri beads all in the Karen area of the city.
If you want to see some city life there are plenty of bars, restaurants and malls in the Westlands area of the city.
Further afield you could take a day trip to Tigoni, hike in the tea fields, tour Kiambethu tea farm or Browns cheese factory (must be pre-booked) and stop for lunch at the Fig and Olive cafe.
If you'd like to see a bit more of Kenya but don't have much time the Naivasha area or the Aberdare national park are all a reasonable driving distance for a one-night stay.
The Kenyan coast is beautiful in September, hot enough to enjoy but not so hot and humid you might melt. Watamu, Kilifi and Diani are all beautiful, or if you want an island escape, Manda/Lamu may be a good option.
